Sunset

          The day was brilliant as I raced up the soft sands of the shoreline. She chased after me, not far behind, as I ran. The sand was smooth and silky under our feet and the waves breaking on the beach gave the scene serenity. I turned suddenly and caught her in my arms as she ran into me knocking us both down. I smiled at her and she smiled back then let go and lay looking over the water. The sun was hanging by a thread just above the horizon and casting off bright reds and oranges, painting the surface of the bay a shimmering gold as it slowly sunk below the water. I leaned over and kissed her on the cheek then gave her a hug and taunted her to chase after me once again as I got up and ran down the shoreline...
